  • Industry/ Organization Type: Waste Management & Materials Recovery
  • Position Title: R&D Engineer (Waste & Process Development)
  • Working Location: Tuas (Company transportation provided)
  • Working Hours: 5 days (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Salary Package: Basic Salary + AWS + Retention Bonus + Incentive + Transport Allowance
  • Duration: Permanent Role

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize waste treatment, handling, and recovery processes to ensure technical feasibility, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to understand waste sources, identify opportunities, support project development, and execute pilot trials.
  • Identify, assess, and implement new technologies and solutions, including working with external partners such as universities, research institutes, and technology providers.
  • Establish and enhance laboratory capabilities, including process development and analytical methods to support R&D and operational needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimizing existing processes and introducing alternative treatment methods where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, documentation standards, and safety, health, and environmental requirements while maintaining proper laboratory practices.
  • Support the development of handling solutions for complex or high-value waste streams and contribute to business growth through new initiatives and facility planning.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies and proactively introduce relevant innovations.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

  • PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as specialty chemicals, oil & gas, or water treatment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and distinguish colour variations in laboratory or process work
